Key Senate Legislation

SB 110 - People with Disabilities - Victims of Crime. Specifies the jurisdiction of state agencies and law enforcement to investigate long-term care facilities suspected of elder and dependent adult abuse. SB 118 - Children with Incarcerated Parents. Requires case plans adopted by the county for each child receiving child welfare services to include information about a parent's incarceration. SB 391 - California Transportation Plan - Greenhouse Gas Reduction. Requires the Department of Transportation's California Transportation Plan to identify the statewide integrated multimodal transportation system needed to attain a statewide reduction of greenhouse gas emissions to 1990 levels by 2020 and 80% below 1990 levels by 2050. SB 1266 - Alternative Custody. Authorizes the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation to offer a program enabling qualified female inmates, pregnant inmates, or inmates who were primary caregivers of dependent children to participate in an alternative custody program. SB 1143 - Community College Student Success Task Force. Creates a task force to develop strategies and programs that improve community college student success including certificate and degree completion and/or transfer to a four-year institution. Her legislative agenda also includes measures to: streamline the K-12 education governance process; improve school district and teacher effectiveness; expedite the education mandates reimbursement process; improve higher education student success; and improve delivery of services and continuity of care for the elderly to keep them out of nursing homes.
